Government |
The 1792 Kentucky gubernatorial election was held on 17 May 1791 in order to elect the first Governor of Kentucky upon Kentucky acquiring statehood on 1 June 1792. Democratic-Republican nominee Isaac Shelby was elected unanimously by an electoral college vote.[1]
Until 1800, Kentucky elected its governors through electors who were chosen via popular vote from the same districts as the Kentucky House of Representatives.[2]
