Constitution of the State of Lithuania of 1922 (Lithuanian: 1922 m. Lietuvos Valstybės Konstitucija) was Lithuania's first permanent democratic constitution that was adopted on 1 August 1922. The Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania was approved by the Constituent Seimas and promulgated by the chairman of the Constituent Seimas, Aleksandras Stulginskis, who was then also the President of the Republic of Lithuania. The first permanent constitution of Lithuania consisted of a preamble and 108 articles divided into 15 chapters. It succeeded the Temporary Constitution of 1920. The constitution of 1922 was suspended in 1926 following the coup d'état, and for the next two years, Lithuania was under martial law. A new constitution was adopted in 1928.
