The 1939 Pittsburgh Panthers football team represented the University of Pittsburgh as an independent the 1939 college football season. Led by first-year head coach Charley Bowser, the Panthers compiled a record of 5–4.[1]

Pittsburgh was not ranked in the final AP poll, but it was ranked at No. 24 in the 1939 Williamson System ratings,[2] and at No. 35 in the final Litkenhous Ratings for 1939.[3]

The team played home games at Pitt Stadium in Pittsburgh.
