American college football season
The 1956 Pittsburg State Gorillas football team represented Kansas State Teachers College of Pittsburg—now known as Pittsburg State University—as a member of the Central Intercollegiate Conference (CIC) during the 1956 college football season. Led by eighth-year head coach Carnie Smith, the Gorillas compiled an overall record of 7–2–1 with a mark of 3–1–1 in conference play, tying for second place in the CIC.[1] Pittsburg State played home games at Brandenburg Stadium in Pittsburg, Kansas.
