The 2014 Lehigh Mountain Hawks football team represented Lehigh University in the 2014 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They were led by ninth-year head coach Andy Coen and played their home games at Goodman Stadium. They were a member of the Patriot League. They finished the season 3–8, 2–4 in Patriot League play to finish in a tie for fifth place.
This year was the 150th meeting of The Rivalry against Lafayette College and was played at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx.[1] Lehigh's marching band, the Marching 97, performed not only during the game, but also the day before around Manhattan to boost spirits.[2]
Located 17 miles apart, the colleges have played each other more than any other college football opponents. But their 150th meeting, set for Saturday, will place these low-profile teams on a very big stage: Yankee Stadium.
And this year, in honor of the 150th rivalry game, the marching band brought Eco-flame to the Big Apple. On Friday afternoon, they boarded a bus and traveled to the major New York City parks to play the Lehigh fight songs. The afternoon's stops included Washington Square Park, the Wall Street Bull, Highline Park, Columbus Circle, Central Park and even a subway station — which the band was sufficiently kicked out of.
