The Padres began the season on April 3 at the Los Angeles Dodgers. They ended the season on October 1 at the San Francisco Giants. They finished the season 71–91 to finish in fourth place in the National League West, 33 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers. They missed the playoffs for the 11th straight year.
