On the night of 3–4 October 2024, southern Bosnia and Herzegovina was struck by floods caused by an atmospheric river produced over the Adriatic Sea. Over the course of the night, several central towns were flooded. A number of towns and villages were inaccessible as roads, bridges, and railways were blocked by water and landslides.[4][5][6] It is the country's worst flooding since 2014.[7] As of 5 October, 25 people have died[a] and dozens are missing.[1][2]
