The 2024 season is the Washington Commanders' 93rd season in the National Football League (NFL). It is the first under the tandem of general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn after the Commanders finished with a 4–13 record in 2023, with head coach Ron Rivera and his staff being dismissed following its conclusion. Peters had been the assistant general manager of the San Francisco 49ers since 2021, with Quinn serving as Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator during the same period. Additional changes to the coaching staff included the hiring of former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury as offensive coordinator and Cowboys secondary coach Joe Whitt Jr. as defensive coordinator. The team had their best start to a season (7–2) since 1996.
The season was the Commanders' eighth-straight having a different quarterback start opening week, with 2023 Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels selected second overall in the 2024 NFL draft after Sam Howell had been traded to the Seattle Seahawks. Daniels set several completion percentage records over his first four games and was named Offensive Rookie of the Month for September after completing the highest percentage of passes (82.1) in NFL history and having more scoring drives (23) than incompletions (19) during the month. The season featured the Madhouse in Maryland, a 52-yard Hail Mary pass from Daniels as time expired to wide receiver Noah Brown to win against the Chicago Bears in Week 8.
