Adelina Gomes (Campos dos Goytacazes, Rio de Janeiro, 1916 — Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, 1984) was a Brazilian painter,[1] sculptor, florist, and artisan. As a painter, she created 17,500 works until her death in 1984.[2][3]

She began painting in 1946 at the Occupational Therapy Section of the Painting and Modeling Studio when psychiatrist Nise da Silveira took over the supervision of that section at the psychiatric center of Pedro II Hospital. During this period, Adelina was undergoing treatment for schizophrenia.[4]
