Alexander "The Ottawa Fireman" Connell[2] (February 8, 1902[a] – May 10, 1958) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played for the Ottawa Senators, Detroit Falcons, New York Americans and Montreal Maroons teams in the National Hockey League. He is widely believed to be one of the greatest hockey goaltenders of all time.[3][4]
"There are people who will tell you he was the greatest goalie of all-time," said hockey historian Eric Zweig.
