Alexander Murray, CMG (2 June 1810 – 18 December 1884) was a Scottish geologist. He is best known for his career with the Geological Survey of Canada and the Geological Survey of Newfoundland.[1] He is credited as the discoverer of the first known pre-Cambrian (Ediacaran) fossil, later named Aspidella.[2][3]
