Amouskositte of Great Tellico was an 18th-century Overhill Cherokee leader.[1] Following the death of his father Moytoy of Tellico in 1741, Amouskositte succeeded him as "Emperor of the Cherokee",[1] a title bestowed on Moytoy by Scottish adventurer Alexander Cuming.[2]
Few Cherokee recognized him as their First Beloved Man, and by 1753 both he and Tellico had become eclipsed by Kanagatucko (Old Hop) and Chota.
