Aptera (Ἄπτερα[1] or Ἀπτερία[2]) or Apteron[3] was an ancient city, now an archaeological site in Kalives [4] in western Crete, a kilometre inland from the southern shore of Souda Bay,[5] about 13 km east of the city of Chania in the municipality of Chania.
