Aptera (Ἄπτερα^[1] or Ἀπτερία^[2]) or Apteron^[3] was an ancient city, now an archaeological site in Kalives ^[4] in western Crete, a kilometre inland from the southern shore of Souda Bay,^[5] about 13 km east of the city of Chania in the municipality of Chania.
