The Atsam people (Tyap: A̱tsamyia̱; Hausa: Cawai, Chawai[3]) are found mainly in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Middle Belt (central) Nigeria. They speak the Atsam language, an East Kainji language.[2] Their headquarters are in the town of Damakasuwa,[4] a few kilometres from Chawai, west of the city of Jos.
