Ayran[a] (/aɪˈrɑːn/ eye-RAHN) is a cold savory yogurt-based beverage that is consumed across Central Asia, and the Balkans. Ayran is very popular in Turkey and Iran.[1] The principal ingredients are yogurt, water and salt.[2][3][4][5] Herbs such as mint may be optionally added. Some varieties are carbonated.
