Ballycarry (from Irish Baile Cora, meaning 'town of the weir or rocky ford')[3] is a village in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is midway between Larne and Carrickfergus, overlooking Islandmagee, and is part of the Mid and East Antrim Borough Council area. In the 2001 Census it had a population of 981.[citation needed]
