Ballymagauran (Irish: Baile Mhic Shamhráin, meaning 'town of Mac Shamhráin', historically known in English as Ballymagowran), also sometimes spelled as Ballymacgovern or Ballymagovern,[1] is a hamlet and townland in the west of County Cavan in Ireland.[2] It lies on the border with County Leitrim, lying within both the Civil Parish of Templeport and the Barony of Tullyhaw.[2][3] The hamlet is located at the southern end of the Barony of Tullyhaw, the hamlet being on the Ballinamore to Ballyconnell road, the R205.
