Barringer Academy of the Arts & Humanities (formerly Barringer High School and Newark High School), is a four-year comprehensive public high school serving students in ninth through twelfth grades in Newark, in Essex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, operating as part of the Newark Public Schools. Some consider it to be the third oldest public high school in the United States. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1981.[3]
As of the 2022–23 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,734 students and 113.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 15.3:1. There were 1,142 students (65.9% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 108 (6.2% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.[1]
