The Battle of Kherlen (Chinese: 臚朐河之戰) took place between the Eastern Mongols and Ming China at the banks of Kherlen River (Kerulen) in the Mongolian Plateau on 23 September 1409.[2]
The actual engagement between Ch'iu Fu and the Eastern Mongols involved, as recounted in the Ming chronicles, only 1,000 Ming cavalry, a less impressive but perhaps, more credible number.
