Bhuttar, Pakistan

Bhuttar (also spelled Bhutter and Buttar) is a village in the Sialkot District of Punjab, Pakistan. It is located at 32°13'25"N 74°44'30"E, just a few kilometers from the district capital, Sialkot, along the main Daska Road. The village of Butter was significantly impacted during the Mughal era; remnants of the ancient inhabitants of this area can still be found near a natural stream that flows through the village, locally referred to as "Nala Aik." During the reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, migrants from Pindi Bhattian were granted land to cultivate in this village. Among them was Mahi Botteri, who settled here with her sons. The Hakam family, descended from her three sons, has deep historical and political roots in the village. Chaudhary Boota Khan, a son of Ch. Hakam, became the ruler of the village and served the British government as a "Zaildar."
