Billy Joe Shaver (August 16, 1939 – October 28, 2020) was an American singer, songwriter and actor.

Billy Joe was a prominent figure in the outlaw country genre.[4] He is considered one of the great american songwriters of his generation. He has received praise from Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferon and many others.[5]

Artists including Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash have recorded his songs.[6]
