Black Bread (Catalan: Pa negre, IPA: [ˈpa ˈnɛɣɾə]) is a 2010 Catalan-language Spanish drama film written and directed by Agustí Villaronga. The screenplay is based on the homonymous novel by Emili Teixidor, with elements from two other works by him, Retrat d'un assassí d'ocells and Sic transit Gloria Swanson.[2]
The film won thirteen Gaudí Awards,[3] nine Goya Awards, including best film, best director and best adapted screenplay. It clinched a selection as the Spanish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 84th Academy Awards,[4][5] becoming the first Catalan-language film to do so, but it was not make the shortlist.
