Robert Earl Filner (born September 4, 1942) is an American former politician who was the 35th mayor of San Diego from December 2012 through August 2013, when he resigned amid multiple allegations of sexual harassment.[3] He later pleaded guilty to state charges of false imprisonment and battery. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
Filner was previously the U.S. representative for California's 51st congressional district, and the 50th, serving from 1993 to 2012. He was chair of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs from 2007 to 2011.
