Boulaq[a] (Arabic: بولاق, romanized: Būlāq[1] from Ancient Greek: φυλακή "guard, customs post"[2]), is a district of Cairo, in Egypt. It neighbours Downtown Cairo, Azbakeya, and the River Nile.
