Carlo Maria Petrini (Turin, Italy, 6 November 1965) is an Italian scientist and bio-ethicist.[1] He is Director of the Bioethics Unit and Chair of the Ethics Committee for clinical trials of Public Research Bodies (EPR) and other Public Bodies at the national level (CEN-NEC)[2] at the Italian National Institute of Health (Istituto Superiore di Sanità, ISS),as well as the President of the National Coordination Center of Ethics Committees (Decrees of the Minister for Health 19 April 2018, 27 May 2021 and 23 September 2024).[3][4][5] His work focuses on advancing bioethical standards in scientific research, with particular attention to the ethical implications of medical advancements, clinical trials, and data handling.[6]
