Carolyn Jeanne Bessette-Kennedy (née Bessette; January 7, 1966 – July 16, 1999) was the wife of attorney and publisher John F. Kennedy Jr.. An American fashion publicist for Calvin Klein until her marriage to Kennedy in 1996, her life and fashion sense have been the subjects of intense media scrutiny. The couple, along with her older sister Lauren, died in a plane crash off the coast of Martha's Vineyard in 1999.
