Covington is a city in central Tipton County, Tennessee, United States. Covington is the second largest city and county seat of Tipton County.[5] The city is located in West Tennessee, 12 mi (19 km) east of the Mississippi River. The city's population was 9,038 at the time of the 2010 U.S. Census.[6] Located 42 mi (68 km) northeast of Memphis, Covington is part of the Memphis, Tennessee Metropolitan Area.
