"Declare Independence" is a song written and recorded by Icelandic singer Björk. It was released on 1 January 2008 through One Little Indian as the third single from her sixth studio album, Volta. Björk has dedicated the song to the independence causes in the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Kosovo, Tibet, Scotland and Catalonia, with her dedications to Kosovo and Tibet at live performances in Tokyo and Shanghai, respectively, causing significant controversy.
