Derek Mecham Smith (born January 18, 1975) is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the Washington Redskins in the third round of the 1997 NFL draft.^[1] He played college football for the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Smith also played for the San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers and Miami Dolphins.
