Development of Windows Vista

The development of Windows Vista (codenamed Longhorn) began in May 2001,[1] prior to the release of Microsoft's Windows XP operating system, and continued until November 8, 2006, where it was released to manufacturing. Windows Vista was then released generally to retail on January 30, 2007.
