Dmitri Bantysh-Kamensky

Dmitri Nikolaevich Bantysh-Kamensky (5 (16) November 1788, Moscow – January 25 (February 6) 1850, Saint Petersburg) was a Russian statesman and historian who studied under pioneering 18th century historian G. F. Müller[1] He served as Governor of Tobolsk Governorate between March 1825 and 20 July 1828 and then later became Governor of the Vilna Province between May 1836 and 1838. Dmitri Bantysh-Kamensky is considered the first true historian of the Cossacks.[1]
