Douglas Laidlaw Cairns (born 1961) is a British classicist, Professor of Classics at the University of Edinburgh, former Chair of the Classical Association, and the current Chair of the Edinburgh University Press.[1][2] He specialises in the study of Greek society, ethics, literature, emotional life, and the ways in which these are reflected in Greek epic, tragedy, and lyric poetry.
