If you need help with referencing, please see Referencing for beginners and Citing sources. This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Hafiz Babali (born September 9, 1971, in Mugu, Ismayilli district) is an Azerbaijani political prisoner and investigative journalist with over 32 years of experience in independent media organizations. Babali serves as the deputy chairman of the Institute for Freedom and Safety of Reporters (RATI) and is the head of the economics department at the Turan Information Agency.[citation needed]
Hafiz Babali, who has repeatedly faced harassment and pressure during his journalistic activities, was detained by police on December 12, 2023, as part of the AbzasMedia case. He was subsequently charged with "smuggling" and arrested.[1][unreliable source?] His detention has been heavily criticized by numerous local and international human rights activists and institutions, who view it as a direct attack on press freedom and an attempt to silence independent journalism in Azerbaijan.[citation needed]
