Just Fan Fiction[1] is an American rock band formed in 2021 in Katy, Texas, a suburb of Houston. Their current line-up consists of founder, guitarist, and vocalist Blake Hill, bassist Kevin Mars, drummer Adrian Cabo, and guitarist and vocalist Ollie Mira. Although they can loosely be described as a rock band, they have stated they don't want to limit themselves to one genre, instead taking influence from any and all types of music. The band themselves primarily describes their music as based on Alternative rock, Pop-punk, Nu metal, Power pop, and even some Jazz and Country music.
Formed after the demise of Blake's previous musical projects The Hostile Redemption and Reckless & Royal, Blake and keyboardist Michael Schwin began the band as an acoustic Third Eye Blind tribute duo. After beginning to write original material, they booked themselves as Just Fan Fiction and began to play local shows around Houston, Texas. The name originated from Blake, who after going through a difficult time in his life began responding to verbal attacks to his character with "Whatever you heard about me is just fan fiction." After the duo began growing in popularity, a full live band was recruited, and songs that started out on acoustic guitar and piano became fully fleshed out with electric guitar, bass, and drums. Primary lyricist, Blake Hill, writes about relatable topics such as the beginnings and endings of relationships, nostalgia, alcoholism, betrayal, and anything else that inspires him.
As of October of 2024, the band has released 6 singles, including "Concerts[2]", "Beautiful In Blue[3]", and "The Background[4]" in 2022, "Katy, Katy, Katy[5]" and "Adolescence[6]" in 2023, and "Dance Like That[7]" in 2024. They are known for energetic live shows, as well as Blake's heart on his sleeve attitude.
