Tactical Air Control Squadron (TACRON) TWELVE is based out of Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, CA.[1] The mission of TACRON is to provide air control for amphibious readiness groups (ARGs) and their embarked Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). They do this aboard LHD/LHAs from the Tactical Air Control Center (TACC) and ashore.[2] This includes active and procedural control of airspace around the ARG, providing air defense via airspace monitoring, and integrating into all aspects of amphibious air operations to include planning functions.[3] These missions are accomplished by personnel from multiple rates to include Air Traffic Controllers (ACs), Operations Specialists (OSs), Intelligence Specialists (ISs), Information Technology Specialists (ITs), and Naval Aviation Officers.[3][2]
TACRON TWELVE deploys to the 7th Fleet in support of Forward Deployed Naval Forces (FDNF) amphibious ships out of Sasebo, Japan.[2]
