Ecobank Bulawayo Heist

On the 3rd of October 2024, Ecobank Bulawayo was robbed in a broad daylight. The robbers got away with an estimated $4 million The robberies were armed with AK-47 riffles and they disarmed the Safeguard Security personnel. One of the armed robbers purchased a chewing gum worth 1ZAR moments before the heist. The robbers were calm and relaxed throughout the heist. Police are currently investigating the case which is one of Zimbabwe's largest bank roberies.[1] Other sources indicated that the stolen money was nearly $5 million.[2] It is now widely regarded as the country's biggest heist.[2]
