Ectatomminae is a subfamily of ants in the poneromorph subfamilies group containing four extant and three extinct genera in two tribes.[2] The subfamily was described in 2003 when Barry Bolton divided the Ponerinae subfamily into six subfamilies.[3] Heteroponinae used to be its own subfamily, but was merged into Ectatomminae in 2022.[4]
