Fiora Corradetti Contino (June 17, 1925 – March 5, 2017) was an American opera conductor and teacher.[1] She was particularly known for her interpretations of Italian verismo works of the late 19th century,[2] and was described as one of the most important figures in opera of the 20th century.[3] Anne Midgette of The New York Times once suggested that she "might have had a far bigger career had she been a man".[4]
