Kannada Flag (ಕನ್ನಡ ಬಾವುಟ) ( Kannada: [kən̪n̪əɖə bɑːʋuʈə] ) is a de facto, linguistic, cultural and ethnic flag of Kannadigas, it is horizontal yellow and red bicolored flag, based on ancient belief, the yellow and red colours in the flag stand for Turmeric and Kunkuma of Hindu goddess Bhuvaneshwari also known as Kannadamma or Kannadambe. The flag is used across the world by Kannadigas for Kannada-centric programs and movements.[2] It finds a place in the official website of the Government of Karnataka.[3][4] It is also hoisted every year by the Chief Minister of Karnataka on Karnataka Rajyotsava day.[5]
