Formula One tyres

The 2023 Pirelli tyres include (from left to right) the three slicks – called the softs, mediums, and hards – intermediates, and full wets.

Formula One tyres are specialised racing tyres designed for use on a Formula One car. Tyres play a crucial role in the car's performance, affecting grip, handling, and overall speed. Tyres are also a component into racing strategy, depending on factors such as weather or deterioration. Throughout the history of Formula One, tyres have undergone major changes with different manufacturers and specifications used in the sport. Since 2011, tyres have been provided exclusively by Pirelli, an Italian tyre manufacturer.[1] As of the 2024 season, there are 8 separate types of tyres available for use during events.[2]
