Fred Berger (born May 10, 1981) is an American film producer who was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture for the 2016 musical La La Land,[1] for which he also won the 2016 Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy[2] and Producers Guild of America Award for Best Theatrical Motion Picture.[3]
In addition to La La Land, Berger served as a producer on the films The Autopsy of Jane Doe and Taking Chance. As of 2016[update], he is a partner at Automatik Entertainment[4] alongside Brian Kavanaugh-Jones.
Berger is of Jewish descent.[5]
All four of the film's producers – Jordan Horowitz, Gary Gilbert, Mark Platt and Fred Berger – are members of the tribe. Berger and Horowitz both grew up in Westchester, New York and even played in the same Jewish temple basketball league together.
