Gilbert is a town in Mingo County, West Virginia, United States, along the Guyandotte River. The population was 333 at the 2020 census.[4] Gilbert was incorporated in 1918 and named for Gilbert Creek, which derives its name from the name of an early traveler in the area who was killed by Native Americans. Gilbert is known nationwide for the Hatfield-McCoy ATV Trails that are located in the area. There are a number of lodges and restaurants in Gilbert.
On July 1, 2023, after a months-long design contest,[8] the town announced its new flag, "The Star of Bright Promise."[9]
