The Gilboa Prison break was a security event in Israel which occurred on 6 September 2021, when six Palestinian prisoners escaped from Gilboa Prison, a maximum security prison in northern Israel, through a tunnel.[2][3][4]
Among the escapees was Zakaria Zubeidi, former leader of al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades in Jenin.[5] The incident is considered to be the most significant prison break in Israel's history.[6][7]
By September 19, all 6 escapees had been re-captured.[8]
