Gymkhana (motorcycle)

Gymkhana in Poland

Motorcycle Gymkhana is a motorcycle time trial sport in which riders compete to manoeuvre in the shortest time through a paved course restricted by traffic cones or other obstacles. Motorcycle Gymkhana is especially popular in India, Japan and the United Kingdom. Each country has its own reasons for embracing this sport, tied to local culture, motorcycling traditions, and infrastructure. For example, in Japan, the sport aligns well with Japan's culture of precision, discipline, and mastery. Japanese riders focus on developing technical skills, control, and agility, which are highly valued in Gymkhana. The country also has a long-standing love for motorcycles, supported by brands like Honda, Yamaha, and Kawasaki, which manufacture motorcycles ideal for this kind of activity.

After walking the course to familiarize themselves with the obstacles, participants ride through individually in a predetermined order. Each rider runs the course once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and his fastest time determines his placing.
