Hashim Safi Al Din (Arabic: هاشم صفي الدين, romanizedHashem Safieddine; born 1964) is a Lebanese Shia cleric, senior Hezbollah official that currently serves as its Secretary-General.[1] He is the maternal cousin of the former secretary general of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah.[2] The head of Hezbollah's Executive Council, he was declared a Specially Designated Global Terrorist by the United States[3][4] and a terrorist by Saudi Arabia.[5] He was generally considered the "number two" in Hezbollah before Nasrallah's assassination in 2024.[6]

Al Din, who served as head of the Jihad Council and the Executive Council of the Hezbollah and retains strong relations with Iran, where he received his religious training and whose leadership promotes him as Nasrallah's successor.
