Hope Bourne (Hartland, Devon, 1920[1] – 22 August 2010[2]) was a self-sufficient painter and writer[3] who lived alone in primitive cottages[4] and a caravan on Exmoor,[5] surviving by growing her own vegetables, fishing, and hunting for rabbits.[6]
Known as the Lady of Exmoor,[7] she wrote five books on Exmoor and one novel set in North Devon, was the subject of three TV documentaries[4] and contributed a weekly column to The West Somerset Free Press.[8][9]
