Jebba town is a historical Nupe city in Kwara State, Nigeria.^[1] It has views of the River Niger and has an estimated population of 22,411 as of 2007. Jebba, originally a Nupe town, existed under the rule of the Etsu until the outbreak of war with Ilorin. Ilorin conquered part of Jebba, forcing Etsu Jimada's inhabitants to flee across the River Niger. Due to Ilorin's inability to cross the river, they failed to conquer the remaining portion. As a result, Jebba in Niger State remained under Nupe rule. Later, during land allocation, Abdussalam assigned Jebba's land to Okedare. However, in the 1900s, when Ilorin was divided into districts, a railway worker was appointed Baale due to his connections with Sulaiman, the District Head at Lanwa, and his Islamic faith. Subsequently, Yorubas migrated to Jebba, leading to rapid population growth and eventual overpopulation.
