Joseph Bamina (15 March 1927 – 15 December 1965) was a politician serving as President of the Senate of Burundi[1] when he was assassinated. He had been prime minister for less than a year, member of the Union for National Progress (French: Union pour le Progrès national—UPRONA) party.[2] He and other Burundian leaders of the government were assassinated on 15 December 1965,[2] by Tutsi soldiers during a reprisal effort to stop a coup by Hutu officers.
