On 1-5 June 2024,[1] a large storm system produced severely heavy rainfall and winds along the Eastern coast of South Africa, striking several municipalities in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal provinces. The storm produced two tornados in KwaZulu-Natal province around the Durban metro region, with the more intense tornado striking Tongaat.[2][3]
