Kadal ( The Sea) is a 2013 Indian Tamil-language drama film[3] co-written, co-produced and directed by Mani Ratnam.[2] The film stars debutantes Gautham Karthik,[4] and Thulasi Nair,[5] with Arjun Sarja, Aravind Swamy and Lakshmi Manchu in supporting roles. The music was composed by A. R. Rahman. The film revolves around the life of fishermen who instill the fact that faith can sometimes lead to the triumph of humanity.[6]
; transl. The film was dubbed into Telugu as Kadali.[7][8] The film was released worldwide on 1 February 2013 to mostly positive reviews, in both the versions. Coincidentally, the leading pair of this movie had their parents- the hero's father Karthik & heroine's mother Radha as established actors, by appearing together in their debut film Alaigal Oivathillai (1981). This movie was a box office bomb.[9]
